Job Summary

The Senior MFM Sonographer must be fully competent in all facets of the job, this includes: OBGYN exams/procedures including high risk patients and complicated fetal anomalies. 

The Senior MFM Sonographer provides highly competent technical support in the performance of examinations to provide diagnostic images for interpretation by a Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) specialist. 

The Senior MFM Sonographer is responsible for performing low and high risk perinatal Obstetric (OB) ultrasound examinations in accordance with established departmental and American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) guidelines and protocols.  

The Senior MFM Sonographer must possess expertise in prenatal diagnosis and OB ultrasound with the ability to recognize normal and pathological conditions and apply additional modalities as indicated (i.e. Doppler, 3D/4D).

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • American Registration for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification with Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS)
  • American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in OB/GYN
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) or UC Davis Health CPR
  • Recent experience in Perinatology 
  • Experience with complex anatomic ultrasound (level II studies), Doppler, multiples, nuchal translucency and ultrasound guidance for amniocentesis. 
  • Knowledge of American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) obstetric protocols. 
  • Ability to operate Epic, Visage, ViewPoint, ClickView, Excel, Word and other patient care management systems for documentation activities and report generation. 
  • Ability to assume responsibility and dependability, i.e., (but not limited to): attendance, punctuality, positive attitude, initiation of duties not specifically stated (linen, supplies, cleanliness of work area), maintenance/upkeep of equipment, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Interest in further training in prenatal fetal surgery (Laser therapy, MMC repair) and guidance for chorionic chronic villi sampling.

  • 15% - GENERAL DEPARTMENT DUTIES

Department Overview

Prenatal Diagnosis Center (PNDx) provides comprehensive counseling, screening, and diagnostic testing for fetal disorders, which include chorionic villus sampling (CVS) and amniocentesis. 

This position rotates locations to include PNDx Sacramento, PNDx Stockton, FCTC, Main Hospital, and other satellite facilities.

Work Environment

  • Must be able to travel to other UCD imaging facilities.
