Description

The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine seeks a senior-level, experienced physician to serve as Operating Room (OR) Clinical Director at UPMC Mercy. The candidate must be board-certified or board eligible in anesthesiology with the ability to obtain a medical license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and have proven administrative and clinical care expertise.


Opportunity Details:

  • Primary oversight and management of the hospital ORs, non-OR room anesthetizing location, same day services.
  • Provide site-level management and leadership.
  • Work in conjunction with chief/assisting chief by coordinating daily operations and to achieve clinical program goals.
  • Assure optimal patient care through effective and efficient utilization of OR resources.
  • Integrate with hospital leadership and surgical services; collaborate through clear and regular communication with all perioperative personnel.
  • Manage daily OR schedule to maximize utilization and access.
  • Coordinate available resources for perioperative staging, the Post Anesthesia Care Unit, and transport.
  • Stay current on Anesthesiology services policy and procedures; communicate and adhere to at site.
  • Represent as Anesthesiology leader at various meetings.
  • Attend local hospital meetings and committees as delegate for the chief.
  • Represent the department and actively engage and maintain collaborative relationships with system leaders in UPMC that fosters cooperation in promoting best in class care.
  • In charge of short-term staffing: daily through next five days projection.
  • Liaison with schedulers.
  • Serve on UPMC Mercy medical staff and the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine faculty.
  • Demonstrated clinical experience and proven ability to collaborate and build strong teams, with a strong interest in advancing the academic, research, educational, and clinical mission of the department.
