Description

As members of the Office of Community Resources and Support (OCRS) staff, Adaptive Testing Coordinators collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to cultivate a culture of access for members of the UT Dallas community who have disabilities. This position reports to the Associate Director of the AccessAbility Resource Center (ARC).

They ensure all academic accommodations are followed for students with disabilities by overseeing the administration of accessible and adaptive exams which may include, but is not limited to, scribing, reading, enlarging, or any other accommodations that may be required. They also ensure both students and employees with disabilities have access to assistive technologies needed for their success.

Adaptive Testing Coordinator interacts and communicate with faculty, staff and students to ensure all aspects of the adaptive exam coordination process are followed.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree and Three years of experience working with adults with disabilities of medical conditions that require adaptive services and Advanced knowledge in the development and usage of Freedom Scientific, JAWS, Zoom-Text and other adaptive software



Preferred Education and Experience

More than three (3) years of experience working with adults with disabilities or medical conditions that require adaptive services. Ability to troubleshoot computer software and hardware problems associated with the use of assistive technologies and/or alternative media and software.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists with the implementation of Office of Campus Resources and Support (OCRS) strategic initiatives for improving and strengthening efforts toward cultivating a welcoming, fair, and supportive culture on the campus.
  • Represents the AccessAbility Resource Center (ARC) on interdepartmental committees and working groups to support OCRS and university efforts.
  • Provides high quality service to students and employees with disabilities who need assistive technology resources and to students who need adaptive testing services. This is accomplished by providing education, resources and ongoing individualized coaching in the use of adaptive equipment and software and by evaluating and recommending technology solutions based on best practices.
  • Serves as a liaison among offices such as the ARC, Testing Services, and e-Learning Services and serves as a resource to the entire campus community regarding assistive technology and adaptive testing.
  • Provides intake support for all eligible ARC student and employee users.
  • Coordinates or prepares text documents in alternative formats, assists the Testing Center as they provide testing with accommodations, documents student contacts, and provides office support assistance as needed.

Remote Work Notice
The OCRS makes remote work available as an option in situations where it supports department and business operations. The selected candidate will be required to complete a Remote Work Agreement within 14 days after the start of the employment assignment.

Working Conditions
Work is generally performed in the AccessAbility Resource Center. Considerable time is spent working at a computer station. Working conditions may be determined by the situation and may vary from the usual office environment. Evening and weekend work may be required occasionally. The conditions herein are typically required of an incumbent to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions. Physical skill is required to perform keyboarding. Occasional lifting and/or carrying of lightweight materials or equipment for testing in different locations. This position generally works hours between 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
