The Ofen Lab for Brain and Cognitive Development (PI: Noa Ofen) at Center for Vital Longevity, School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences at the University of Texas at Dallas invites applications for a postdoctoral fellow to join our research team. The postdoc will contribute to an NIH funded research into the development of memory networks in children. The lab studies cognitive and brain development from childhood to adulthood, and we are particularly interested in the development of memory systems in the brain. We use behavioral assessment together with structural and functional neuroimaging measurement (including fMRI and intracranial EEG). The successful candidate will be working closely with the PI and will have ample opportunities to lead research projects related to the ongoing research and develop new research directions.

Minimum Education and Experience

Ph.D in a related field.



Preferred Education and Experience

PhD by start date in psychology or neuroscience; an emphasis on developmental cognitive neuroscience is desirable. Previous familiarity with neuroimaging data analysis is required. Experience with advanced fMRI data analysis, as well as experience with longitudinal data analysis and strong programming skill are preferred. Previous research experience with children is also preferred. Strong writing skills are expected. Salary for the position(s) are competitive and based on experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The postdoctoral fellow will be expected to participate in collecting and analyzing neuroimaging data and work with existing providing ample opportunities for authorship on scholarly publications. Responsibilities include assisting in experimental design and coding of stimulus presentation (e.g., using MATLAB), construction and maintenance of fMRI and support research using intracranial EEG analyses protocols. Additional responsibilities include supporting recruiting and scheduling of participants; behavioral and neuroimaging data collection; preparation and maintenance of IRB protocols; assistance in grant writing and manuscript preparation. There will also be opportunities for gaining experience in mentoring thorough supervising graduate students and undergraduate volunteers. 

Additional Information

The Center for Vital Longevity is located blocks away from The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, and the UTD Imaging Center where our collaborative MRI equipment is housed. Research resources include two 3T Siemens Prisma MRI scanners as well as a 7T Philips human scanner. The postdoc will have the opportunity to interact with a large network of collaborators, both at UT Dallas as well as at UTSW and other centers across the country. The lab is located in the heart of Dallas, a fun, dynamic, and affordable city.

Position will work on site and in person.
