The Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at Vanderbilt University Medical Center is currently seeking a fulltime faculty gastroenterologist with interest in nutrition support, celiac disease and capsule endoscopy to join the Center for Human Nutrition. The position is intended for a candidate who is board certified/eligible in gastroenterology and certified in nutrition support (CNSC) or is willing to obtain training and certification in nutrition support within the first year of employment.

Track: Clinician-educator track

Clinical Responsibilities:

This position will entail a mix of the following activities:

Endoscopy: EGD, colonoscopy, feeding tube placement, capsule endoscopy; deep enteroscopy (optional if interested);

Outpatient Clinic and Inpatient nutrition support, 2-4 weekends/year at home call for nutrition support, 1 week /year gastroenterology night call

Academic Opportunities: Teaching and working with medical and dietetic students, medical and pharmacy residents and gastroenterology fellows.

Investigator driven clinical research supported by GI research group; Opportunity to participate in industry sponsored trials in celiac disease and short bowel syndrome as well as ongoing quality improvement projects in nutrition support

About the Center- The Center for Human Nutrition is housed within the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition under the Department of Medicine. It is a multidisciplinary team of MDs, APPs, pharmacists, dietitians and nurses. Currently the Center specializes in outpatient management of celiac disease, intestinal failure/short bowel syndrome, small bowel enteropathies, obscure GI bleeds, microscopic colitis, and feeding tube placement and management. Inpatient management is focused on patients requiring parenteral nutrition.

The compensation and benefits are very competitive. There will be a faculty appointment at Vanderbilt School of Medicine as part of the job.

Requirements:

  • Completion of a Medical Doctor Degree
  • Completion of a gastroenterology fellowship
  • Eligible for a Medical License in the State of Tennessee Board Certification/eligible in gastroenterology
