The Highlights:

The Associate Director, Parent Engagement will play a critical role in increasing engagement and building affinity among the parent and family community at DePaul. Reporting to the Director of Parent Engagement, the Associate Director will assist with all aspects of parent and family communications, events and other engagement initiatives. This position will work independently and collaborate extensively with colleagues within the Division of Advancement and External Relations, and with partners across campus. 

What You'll Do:

  • Parent & Family Communications: Contribute to parent and family communications, including the website, newsletter, and social and digital media, and more 
  • Event Management:  Plan events and opportunities for parents and families to engage with the university, including Alumni & Family Weekend, Summer Send Offs, and more 
  • Relationship Management: Cultivate meaningful relationships with actively engaged parents and families, and parent and family volunteers and donors 
  • Fundraising: Build a culture of philanthrophy among parents at DePaul to help achieve annual fundraising goals, with a special focus on pipeline development and engaging parents and families with Leadership Annual Giving 
  • This position will require a procard and be responsible for monitoring expenses related to parent and family events, as well as opportunities to minimize expenditures and save resources.
     

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • 3-5 years experience with preference given to candidates who have experience in event/project management, volunteer management, higher education or a communication-related field 
  • Demonstrated professional presence and maturity in dealing with a variety of audiences, external and internal to the university
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral presentation, and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects concurrently
  • Exceptional organizational, time management, and analytical skills to complete work with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to build strong relationships with and engage prospects, donors, volunteers, as well as faculty, staff, and administrators across the university
  • A high-level of energy, self-confidence, optimism, and personal resilience 
  • Comfort with ambiguity and change; demonstrated sensitivity, maturity, and good judgment
  • Demonstrates commitment to and appreciation of DePaul's mission
  • Requires flexible working hours including evening and weekend work and occasional travel
  • Works in close partnership with the alumni engagement team to collaborate on relevant programming for parents during Alumni & Family Weekend, as well as regional presidential receptions, and more
  • Develops productive working relationships across campus, most notably with New Student and Family and Family Engagement, Housing and Residence Life, the Dean of Student's Office, University Communications, the Office of Student Involvement, and others
  • Serves as a resource, advocate, and spokesperson for parent engagement and philanthrophy at DePaul
  • Supports the Director in the development of goals, objectives, and measurement tools to understand how to meaningfully engage parents and families
