Job Summary

At Flex, we are seeking a PCBA Test Development Engineer to be located in Milpitas CA or Salt Lake City, UT.

As a member of a test engineering team this individual will have the responsibility of defining, developing, and maintaining automated test solutions for boards and subassemblies used in server, storage, & networking products. This position is responsible for implementing functional test using fixtures for high-volume computer board manufacturing for a global manufacturing organization.

This position includes both NPI development projects and ongoing production.  This position requires close coordination with NPI and product development teams to assure prompt responses to new and changed requirements. A key aspect of this position is regular communication with the design teams, vendors, program management teams and manufacturing sites who all play significant roles in the overall process.  While this role has significant design and coordination tasks, actively participating in test process development and hands-on factory support are also key responsibilities.

What a typical day looks like:
  • Define production test fixturing strategies for proposals and provide initial documentation
  • Design and implement test solutions at a board level to support testing Enterprise and Data Center products in a manufacturing environment
  • Drive the activities necessary to finalize design details and operational schedules to support awarded programs
  • Establish fixture design requirements based on test requirements and production plans, and coordinate with vendors and production for design approvals
  • Working with production teams to drive factory capacity planning and ramp support
  • Managing tasks in JIRA based on ECO/Engineering inputs
  • Assist manufacturing setup and volume ramp with process documentation, training material, and onsite support
  • Work closely with the local and global IT organizations in identifying, implementing, and maintaining factory test infrastructure
  • Provide sustaining test maintenance support for yield improvement, product updates, debug training
  • Participate in the ongoing development of proprietary test automation solutions to support testing of server and storage products

What we are looking to add to our team:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent, with Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering is preferable
  • 5+ years of related experience in working with and
  • developing system test fixtures
  • Background in computer systems manufacturing test or system development and engineering
  • Experience with Shell Scripting languages such as Coding experience using BASH, XML, JSON, REST
  • Clear written and verbal communications
  • Advanced Linux administration system experience
  • Working knowledge computer architecture
  • Experience with Electronic and Mechanical assembly and repair
Some of our preferred experiences:
  • Programming experience in C/C++, Perl, Go
  • Background in computer systems manufacturing test or system development and engineering
  • Proficiency in computer hardware architecture, Linux operating systems, device firmware (BIOS/BMC)
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Programming experience in C/C++, Perl, Go
  • Technical drawing packages (ACAD, Solidworks, etc.)
  • Experience working in an NPI environment and transferring products between facilities
  • Solid customer interfacing skills
