The Division of Global Engagement (GE) advances the University's teaching, research and service mission by working collaboratively throughout the institution to promote global engagement and advance campus wide internationalization by facilitating international mobility for students and faculty. GE serves as the primary unit responsible for improving the international student experience and engagement on campus, promoting faculty engagement in international initiatives, and developing strategic partnerships abroad. GE interacts with campus leadership on strategic planning and initiatives to elevate the reputation of UCSC globally. GE units include Global Learning, International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS), Global Programming and Global Initiatives.
International Student Services is a dynamic team of professionals committed to supporting an international population of over 1700 students and scholars from more than 50 countries, and approximately 650 students who participate in international and domestic Global Learning programs. The Division of Global Engagement facilitates international exchange through its services and programs and serves as the primary administrative, programming and advising unit for the UCSC international community.
Reporting to the Assistant Director of International Student Services, the SEVIS/ Applications Coordinator supports the software applications utilized by the Division to enhance services to the populations we serve. The incumbent plays a lead role in Student and Exchange Visitors Information System (SEVIS) registration for institutional compliance, interfacing with the SEVIS database as it pertains to F-1 students and J-1 students and scholars at the University. This position will acquire technological expertise to troubleshoot administrative and user concerns in the iGlobal (Sunapsis) and the Slugs Abroad (Horizons) software applications, collaborating closely when needed with the Systems Analyst to resolve issues and recommend efficiencies in workflow and processes to enhance the utilization of our software applications. The SEVIS/ Applications Coordinator monitors the records of all F and J (students and scholars) visa holders and assists with the document production process for new international students. The SEVIS / Applications Coordinator will assist in maintaining university compliance with Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) regulations by keeping abreast of current immigration regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities in addition to the above will include working with the Global Learning team, formerly referred to as Study Abroad, to assist users and administrators with the Slugs Abroad (Horizons) software application. This includes assisting users with application and access, electronic forms and checklists customization, and developing and pulling of routine reports.

Salary Information: $50,600 - $56,000 / Annually. Salary commensurate with skills, qualifications and experience.

Assists in the overall compliance with Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) regulations. Utilizes SEVIS as it pertains to F-1 Students and J-1 Students and Scholars, by updating records and ensuring data accuracy (i.e. shorten programs, terminate records, edit records), to facilitate successful SEVIS batch execution. Ensures consistency in various university, government and external record databases (i.e Sunapsis, Horizons, AISPeoplesoft).
Assists advisors and students with administrative and user accounts in both Sunapsis and Horizons software applications; monitors and troubleshoots alerts, creates templates and forms; monitors contact information changes, program changes, extensions, and enrollment requirements. Collaborates with advisors to resolve issues that arise, and elevates to the Systems Analyst when needed.
Provides recommendations to improve efficiency and streamline workflow; provides training as needed; creates user manuals for Sunapsis/Horizons software applications.
Oversees I-20 document production for initial and transfer students by working with Systems Analyst to create pre-arrival checklists for I-20 issuance, monitor seasonal document production progress, troubleshoot student user issues including access to portal, upload errors, etc, and escalate to systems analyst when necessary. As needed, may assist in preparation and issuance of new immigration documents.
Produces analytical data reports and visualizations as relate to unit or divisional needs, and customizes for different audiences.
Uses subject matter knowledge, collects and prepares information for use in discussions, meetings of internal and external constituents. Remains competent and current through professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses.

- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
- Skills in judgment and decision-making, problem solving, identifying measures of system performance and the actions to improve performance.
- Skills and experience in facilitating and troubleshooting and resolving issues in software applications (i.e. Sunapsis, Horizons ).
- Demonstrated creative use of technology to solve business problems.

- Proficient in ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.
- Working knowledge of applicable policy analysis techniques.
- Prior experience working in international education.
- Working knowledge of Sunapsis or similar software application.
- Working knowledge of Horizons or similar software application.
- Working knowledge of AISPeopleSoft or similar software application.
- Multicultural competencies; ability to work with diverse populations.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident to hold a DSO (Designated School Official) title in order to work in SEVIS.
