Tetra Tech has an immediate opening in our Warrenville, IL office for a driven Project Manager/Professional Engineer in its solid waste operating unit who is interested in advancing our collaborative culture, growing the business in and around the IL market and is an excellent communicator.  This operating unit is a full-service engineering, permitting, construction, and operations and maintenance business unit focused on the solid waste industry for both municipal and private clients. We have the nimbleness of a smaller firm, with access to tremendous resources and interesting projects offered to larger firms.   By joining our group you will have the opportunity and autonomy to collaboratively grow a business while continuing the work you enjoy doing as an engineer and working with a team as committed as you are to our clients.

 

Responsibilities:

 

·        This position would include approximately 30 to 50% focus on development of new solid waste management business using existing or new client relationships:

o   Focus on growing the solid waste management business within Illinois / Indiana using our current relationships as well as your own.

o   Expertise in proposal preparation and the development of win/win strategies, costing, level of effort evaluation, and business development/client interaction to support growth of the solid waste management sector. Specifically, this position will require an ability to clearly articulate TT's capability and ability to resolve client's solid waste management needs.

O   Active participation with industry organization(s) such as SWANA, NWRA, etc.

o   Industry conference attendance representing Tetra Tech

o   Prepare and assist with the preparation of technical papers and presentations.

·        The remaining 50 to 70% of this position's responsibility would be the project management of solid waste management projects:

o   Prepare design, reports, and permit applications for solid waste management projects.

o   Manage multi-disciplinary projects, and work within a group and independently.

o   Manage complex projects, including the management, coordination and review of subcontractors, budgets, and schedules.

o   Staff management and coaching as well as mentoring project team members in pursuit of excellence and growth, including updating TT management and staff with advancements in solid waste management practices.

  • A Project Manager who understands the big picture and is a creative problem solver that can synthesize diverse information in the interpretation of complex technical and management problems.

 

Requirements:

 

·        Demonstrated skills to assess client needs, develop staff capabilities, make recommendations, and help manage and grow solid waste management services.

·        Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science or other related field.

·        Professional Engineering certification or license in Illinois.

·        Minimum of 10 years of experience in the solid waste industry including:

o   Landfill Design and Permitting

o   Transfer Station/MRF Design and Permitting

o   Landfill Gas System Design

o   RNG Facility Design and Permitting

o   Industrial Facility Design

o   Stormwater Management

o   Organics Management

·        Established client relationships in the solid waste management field.

·        Demonstrated project management experience.

·        Strong written and verbal communication skills, with fluency in English. 

·        Candidate must possess basic computer skills which includes proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel.

·       Ability to effectively conduct work remotely and travel for project and client needs.
